Can Electra work on an Apple Mac?

  Yes, through the use of virtualization software. Please download a Trial copy of Visio and Electra to fully test as we have not fully tested on this platform.

  No, Electra is a Microsoft Visio solution (add-in) and requires Microsoft Visio to function.

Which version of Microsoft Visio does Electra require?

  Electra requires Microsoft Visio 2003 or later and works well on Visio 2007 and Visio 2010. Electra works on all editions including Standard and Professional versions of Visio.

What's the difference between the Trial version and the Release version?

  The Trial version is limited to 30 days and will cease to function after the trial period. On the Release version, there are additional stencils (IEC, etc).
   
Electrical Installation CAD

After installation, I cannot use the tools provided by Electra. What can I do?

  By default, Microsoft Visio is set to high security level and the user will be prompted to run a macro every time Electra operates. When a user clicks no, Electra will cease to function. To enable and use the tools provided by Electra, set Visio to low security level by selecting from the menu Tools | Macros | Security, and on the Security Level tab, select low security.

Also make sure the item 'Enable Automation Events' on Tools | Options | Security menu is checked.
   
AutoCAD Symols

I already have CAD symbols in AutoCad, can I import them into Electra or Visio?

  Sure, Microsoft Visio comes with extensive import filters from major file formats and drawings from other CAD systems can be easily imported to Visio.

Once imported and converted, these symbols and drawings can be used in Electra to create native symbols using Create Schematic Symbols or Create Layout shape.

Can I export Electra drawings into other formats?

  Of course, Microsoft Visio also comes with extensive export filters for major file formats including dwg, dxf, jpg, gif, html and many many more.

Does Electra uses a hardware dongle?

  Previous versions of Electra uses a dongle, while the latest versions does not. The latest versions requires online activation.
